The Distiller wanted to reflect the love of Othello and Desdemona in Shakespeare's play Othello. Othello's North African heritage is captured through cassia bark, coffee beans, caramelized orange, nutmeg and tumeric. Desdemona, is the taste of New Zealand Pohutukawa, which gives the Gin a sweet astringency.

Juniper and Pohutukawa form the initial notes while caramelized orange holds the spicy flavours together. Finally, the chocolate flavour of the coffee draws out to a long finish.
